Reliable Standby Power for Groton Homes and Businesses
Groton sits right where the Thames River meets Long Island Sound, and that coastal location is beautiful, but it comes with real power challenges. Nor’easters, coastal storms, and heavy winter weather regularly knock out power across the region. Since 2011, Generators on Demand has helped Groton homeowners and businesses stay powered when the grid goes down. From the waterfront neighborhoods of Groton Long Point to the busy corridors near the Naval Submarine Base, we install, service, and repair standby generators built to handle whatever the New England coast throws at them.

Whole Home Generator Installation in Groton
A whole home standby generator turns on automatically the moment the power fails, usually within seconds, so your family never sits in the dark. For a Navy town like Groton, where many households juggle deployments, shift work, and family life, that automatic reliability matters. Our factory-trained technicians size each system to your home’s actual power needs and handle the full installation, from placement and permitting to the electrical and fuel connections. Whether you’re protecting a waterfront property exposed to coastal wind or a family home inland, we install residential standby generators that keep your heat, sump pump, refrigerator, and medical equipment running through any outage.
Generator Maintenance & Repair in Groton
A standby generator only helps if it starts when you need it. Groton’s salt air and coastal humidity are hard on outdoor equipment, so regular maintenance is especially important here. Our generator service programs include battery testing, fuel-system checks, oil and filter changes, and full load testing to confirm your unit is ready before the next storm. When something does go wrong, our repair technicians respond quickly with the parts and expertise to get your backup power working again. We service the Generac, Kohler, and other major brands you’ll find on homes throughout the Groton area.

I performed an annual service on a Kohler 12kw home standby generator. I began by testing the battery to ensure it was holding a charge and functioning correctly. Next, I checked and adjusted the fuel pressure to the specified 10 inches of water column (WC). The positive battery terminal was replaced to maintain optimal electrical connections. I inspected the air filter for any signs of clogging or damage, ensuring it was clean and efficient. Output voltage and frequency were verified to confirm the generator was producing stable power. Finally, I cleaned the generator's enclosure to remove any dirt or debris, ensuring it was free from contaminants.
Completed scheduled maintenance on a 60kW liquid-cooled Kohler standby generator at a commercial property in the Groton area. Checked coolant concentration and radiator condition, inspected belts and hoses for wear, tested battery under load, verified oil level and condition, and ran the engine through an extended load test under simulated full facility demand. Found the drive belt was beginning to show surface cracking and with the owner’s permission replaced it as a preventative measure rather than waiting for it to fail. Changed oil and filter, cleared a minor diagnostic code from the control panel related to a previous low-fuel event, and confirmed the transfer switch was cycling correctly.
Generator Maintenance: Performed annual service on a 22KW Generac air-cooled standby generator. Replaced the battery and one corroded terminal to ensure reliable starting. Installed a new air filter to maintain proper engine airflow and efficient operation. Checked all electrical connections and performed a full startup test to confirm smooth operation and readiness for backup power.
VG
20KW Generac Annual Air Cooled Service, replaced 2 battery terminals, and air filter.
Generator Maintenance: Arrived on-site to perform the annual maintenance service on an 18KW Generac air-cooled leased generator. Inspected the unit’s engine, control panel, wiring, and battery system for overall condition and proper operation. Tested the battery and found it weak, then replaced the battery and two corroded terminals, ensuring all connections were secure. Checked the fuel system, exhaust, and transfer switch communication. Started and ran the generator under load, verified stable voltage and frequency, and confirmed reliable performance following service.
Great service
